[Lens On Podcast] Is it really okay to not be okay?
WorkWell Leaders was recently featured in an episode of Lens On, a podcast series by The Business Times. The episode dives deep into workplace mental health and uncovers whether mental wellbeing truly contributes to successful business strategy as well as how Gen-Z employees are shaking up workplace norms.
WWL’s founder and chairperson Anthea Indira Ongspoke about the cost of ignoring mental health, sharing a study by IMH which estimated the financial burden of stress and anxiety in the workplace to be a staggering $15.7 billion annually through absenteeism, lost productivity and medical claims.
Anthea also spoke to the cultural shift that needs to be established by senior leaders to remove stigma as over two-thirds of employees here are still uncomfortable talking about mental health with their managers and supervisors.
Stephane de Montlivault, President of Otis Asia-Pacific and founding board member of WWL, chimed in to share how he is walking the talk in shifting his company’s culture surrounding mental health. Stephane recounts how vulnerably sharing about his own wellbeing journey has unlocked a “culture of care” where people can bring their authentic struggles into the workplace, without fear of retaliation.
